NORTHEAST YOUTH TRAVEL LEAGUE

1)    All participating centers are limited to TWO TEAMS. These will be five man teams.

2)    Each house will have a 7-person roster.  If a team is short bowlers in any given match, substitute bowlers that are not on your original roster will permitted to bowl as long as they have a youth league average.

3)    All bowlers K-18 and in school are eligible to participate.  Bowlers must be able to bowl with one hand (no bumpers) and must be a member, in good standing, of a youth league.

4)    Proper dress is required.  Each bowler should present a clean and neat appearance.  No ripped or tattered jeans.  No hats. Team shirts MUST be worn.  Knee length shorts will be permitted.

5)    All governing rules of the ICBA will be observed and enforced.

6)    Good sportsmanship is expected at ALL times.

7)    MATCH PLAY – MATCHES WILL BE AS FOLLOWS – DATES ARE ATTACHED HERETO- CENTER TO BE DETERMINED BY THE COACHES OF EACH CENTER AT A MEETING DESIGNATED BY THE DIRECTOR.

      8)         October – 1 match                    March – 2 matches
December  – 1 match  }weather            April - 1 match
January - 2 matches   }                May – 1 match
February – 1 match    } Permitting             Championship

THE LAST DATE IN MAY WILL BE THE LAST MATCH OF THE SEASON AND THE CHAMPIONSHIP PLAY-OFF.

All matches will take place at the same time at a designated location for the month.  Each match will consist of 3 games bowled by 5 bowlers, 5 frames at a time, switching lanes. WE WILL NOT BE MOVING ONE LANE TO THE RIGHT. This league is match play not tournament.

9)    The league will be 100% handicap, based on 525 team average.  Points will be awarded as follows:

2 points – per game won
1 point – tie
2 points – highest total pinfall

10)    Legal match MUST consist of at least 3 roster bowlers on a team.

•    If substitutes are used, they must present proof of their current Youth League average (in order to adjust the team handicap) You cannot replace a bowler with a substitute whose average is higher than the highest average of a roster bowler.

•    Once the line-ups are settled and the first ball of the match is delivered, the order of the bowlers cannot be changed.

•    If no substitute is used, the team will used the highest average of the absent bowler with 5 points deducted for each game.

•    League average will be established at the first match of each bowler by taking their current junior league average, rounding it to a triple, adding it to the triple bowled at the match and dividing it by 6 strings. This should help give an average to the bowler that is closer to their junior average.

•    Any bowler without an established junior league average, at the time of their first match, we will use their last established league average and add it to the triple they bowl at their first match.

•    All bowlers, regular and substitute, must bowl 15 strings to be recognized as a Northeast Youth Travel League bowler.

•    TOP 4 TEAMS WILL BOWL IN THE PLAYOFF; 1 vs 4, 2 vs 3. TOTAL PINFALL FOR 3 GAMES DETERMINES THE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH.  THE TWO REMAINING TEAMS WILL BOWL FOR 3RD PLACE.  AGAIN, TOTAL PINFALL WILL DETERMINE THE WINNER.

•    We ask that any hosting center charge no more that $3.00 per game

•    The cost of bowling will be $14.00 per bowler per match. This increase is due to the increasing cost for the jackets the kids receive at the end of the season. I do not plan on seeking to increase dues for at least 2 years.

•    Make up matches –
Teams that miss a scheduled match may make up the match by bowling at any house in the league except their own within 30 days of the missed match. The team/teams are bowling for pinfall only. They received  4 point split on the day of the match they missed.

•    Snow cancellation with be made by Bob Brown by 7AM of the day of the match.

•    Sportsmanship  - poor sportsmanship during any match will not be tolerated. If any coach has to speak to a bowler about their actions and/or language during a match, there will be a $10 fine paid by the parent or bowler plus a 1 match suspension.  Second offense will be $10 fine and suspension from the NYTL for 1 year.   All parents and bowlers must sign a waiver signifying that they understand this rule and the consequences of poor sportsmanship.

SPORTSMANSHIP

We, the undersigned, understand that good Sportsmanship among the bowlers is just as important as the bowling itself and that POOR Sportsmanship will not be tolerated at any NYTL match.

We, agree that if any coach has to speak to a bowler from any house about their actions and/or language during a match, there will be a $10 fine paid by the parent or bowler plus a 1 match suspension.  Second offense will be $10 fine and suspension from the NYTL for 1 year.
